Sean Mac Aodh |P.Eng| CEM®| M.IES|
With more than 14 years of experience working in Ireland, Australia and Canada, Sean brings a diverse perspective on energy management strategies for existing buildings to the BES team. Through work on past projects, Sean has developed an expertise in the principles and practices of building performance engineering, including the application of HVAC, engineering, lighting, air and hydronic distribution systems, building automation and renewable energy technologies.
Sean is one of a select group of consultants approved by BC Hydro & Fortis BC to carryout investment-grade retro-commissioning audits for customers. As a Certified Energy Manager and Professional Engineer, Sean’s focus is on developing technical solutions and operating strategies that maximize the operating efficiency of existing buildings leading to reduced overall energy costs and emissions. Sean has also guided the implementation of building mechanical, lighting and control systems re-commissioning, retro-commissioning and ongoing commissioning.
Sean follows his projects from the feasibility study stage to retrofit implementation and on to operator training, providing measurement and verification of energy savings and project performance. His education and training strategies help him to enable building personnel to understand the energy implications of operating strategies, empower them to optimize system efficiencies and ensure successful implementation of energy conservation measures to meet or exceed that of the original basis of design.
