ABOUT: With more than eighteen years of experience working in Ireland, Australia and Canada, Sean brings a diverse perspective on energy management strategies for existing buildings to the team. Sean possesses extensive expertise on the principles and practices of building performance engineering, including the application of HVAC, engineering, lighting, building automation, air and hydronic distribution systems and renewable energy technologies.

Sean is one of a select group of consultants approved by BC Hydro to carryout investment-grade retro-commissioning audits for BC Hydro customers His education and training strategies help him to enable building personnel to understand the energy implications of operating strategies, empower them to optimize system efficiencies and ensure successful implementation of energy conservation measures to meet or exceed that of the original basis of design.

ABOUT: Steve brings over eighteen years of practical building engineering and management experience to the Team. He has successfully applied innovative design solutions to projects in the industrial, office, retail, residential, hospitality, entertainment and laboratory sectors across Canada, the US and the UK – a country renowned for its leadership in sustainability development.

Steve is well versed in all aspects of building projects, including the design and construction processes. He has gained solid experience in construction management, project management, commissioning, and maintenance procedures in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing disciplines. This enables him to provide guidance from a construction perspective to shape realistic, high-performance design solutions.

In the UK, Steve carried out carbon performance ratings and was actively involved in the conservation of power and fuel in buildings. He is currently responsible for providing energy services in existing buildings, which includes detailed and scoping-level energy studies, retrofit project design and project implementation. Steve’s design-build background lends to the seamless design, tender and implementation of retrofit projects. Through open communication and a holistic design perspective, Steve can advance sustainable design practices, and guarantees real results.

Rob Tone

CURRENT POSITION : Mechanical Designer

ABOUT: Rob is Mechanical Engineering who hails from Ireland with extensive engineering experience encompassing mechanical, electrical and project management. He is passionate about accelerating the world's transition towards low carbon economies and wants to contribute to GHG emission reduction through energy efficient buildings.

Rob worked as a mechanical designer on various HVAC, Plumbing, and Control systems. He is also interested in conventional renewable energy sources, particularly bio fuels and solar, as well as district energy systems.

MICHEAL MURPHY

B.ENG, M.ASHRAE, EIT

CURRENT POSITION : M & E Designer/Energy Specialist 

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Running & Gaelic Football, Gym

ABOUT: Micheal is a mechanical and electrical engineering designer who joined the team in late 2019. Micheal has been involved in numerous infrastructure and expansion projects working with several project management companies. Micheal has previously been responsible for the management of the live AutoCAD plant drawings by updating furnishing plans and new designs, developed various drawings for proposed in-house expansion projects using AutoCAD, the monitoring of building management systems, the development of parts databases for machinery of the plant & the maintenance of the plant including fixing various plant items, working with the maintenance team in doing so.

Shayesteh Shahshahani

B.ENG, M.ENG, EIT 

CURRENT POSITION: Energy Specialist

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Gym, Hiking and Playing Piano.

ABOUT: With two master’s degree in renewable energies engineering and energy management and over 6 years of experience in the HVAC and Controls industry, Shayesteh has a well-rounded understanding in building operation and energy management. Her experience is split between new installations and existing building operation/maintenance.

Shayesteh provides comprehensive energy, waste and water consulting services for commercial, industrial, educational and residential facilities throughout Canada & US. Shayesteh has also discovered that the final key to energy saving is taking the energy information and translating it into terms that the building users can use to make their own operating decisions. Informing, empowering and engaging the building occupants through sharing of critical information is a key factor in her past energy and carbon reduction successes.

Mark Cronin

B.ENG, M.Eng, M.ASHRAE 

CURRENT POSITION: Energy Specialist / Designer

ABOUT: Mark is an energy specialist with over 7 years of extensive experience in mechanical system design, HVAC, and pipework installations. Mark is consistently focused on and specializes in adding value to the construction of a project, working to a budget, and reducing cost where possible while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Mark possesses strong IT Skills, including AutoCAD, Solidworks, MathCAD, AutoPIPE, Microsoft Office Applications and project management throughout the project life cycle. Mark prides himself on demonstrating strong commercial awareness throughout the project life cycle with an emphasis on the management of resources.

Lane Logan

P.ENG, CMVP, M.IES 

CURRENT POSITION: Senior Electrical Engineer

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Hiking, Volleyball Coaching

ABOUT: Lane’s extensive background working with a variety of projects in the Interior of British Columbia enables him to better understand the unique requirements of the local climate. Focused on sustainability, Lane brings over 25 years of experience with renewable energy technologies. His expertise in the field of electrical engineering includes power distribution, energy and lighting audits, lighting, control systems, communication systems, alternative energy and security. He has completed numerous projects including a vast range of building types from municipal, civic, airports, industrial and correctional facilities to health care, schools, churches, residential and roadway lighting projects. Lane has also worked on First Nations projects. Lane has assumed full responsibility for the design and implementation of a diverse range of projects including municipal, institutional, industrial, and commercial sectors. His work includes lighting and energy audits, conceptual design, cost estimating, final design and tender drawings, along with specifications, construction inspection services and commissioning.

Brad Morris

B.TECH, ASTTBC CERTIFIED

CURRENT POSITION: Senior BIM / Drafting

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Hiking, Movies, Gaming, DIY Projects

ABOUT: Brad brings over 7 years of Revit and AutoCAD drafting & design experience to the team. Throughout the years working with BES, Brad has developed strong Revit and AutoCAD modeling skills, team and organizational experience, excellent communication skills, and technical strengths in electrical and HVAC system design. Brad has the ability to deliver design modelling/drafting by preparing design elements on time and to quality standards. He maintains consistent design standards across projects by understanding and adhering to design drafting standards. Through strong communication and attention to detail, Brad consistently delivers outstanding results.

Rory McGuirk

B.Eng, M.Eng, EIT

CURRENT POSITION: Energy Specialist

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Rock Climbing, Hiking, Skiing and Playing Music.

ABOUT: Rory is a skilled member of the BES team with a master’s in mechanical engineering and over four years experience in the field. Rory has prior experience as a process engineer working for a leading semiconductor manufacturing company. Rory excels in finding innovative solutions that balance economic viability with environmental responsibility.

Rory has honed his skills in process optimization and environmental compliance and has become a trusted energy specializing in our sustainability implementation operations.

Outside of work, Rory enjoys bouldering and Skiing. He also is a talented guitar player. Being a lover of the great outdoors, Rory also enjoys hiking and camping in the summer months.

Simon Wolfe

B.ENG, EIT

CURRENT POSITION: Energy Specialist

Hobbies & Interests: Hockey, Skiing, Golf and Hiking.

ABOUT: Simon has over four years of experience working in the energy consultancy industry. Simon has established himself by carrying out renewable energy feasibility studies, energy audits, measurement and verification analysis of energy data throughout Canada, the UK and Ireland.

Simon has overseen more than thirty solar PV designs. In conjunction with this, he has played a key role in the tender and installation of the designs ranging from 20 kW up to 1500 kW, including the current largest rooftop PV installation in Ireland.

Simon possesses a comprehensive knowledge of current best practices and energy efficiency technologies. This enables him to provide both guidance and insight to his clients to make informed decisions. Simon’s experience and knowledge in building energy management systems ensures optimal performance while identifying areas for enhancement. Simon’s passion for climate change and greenhouse gas reduction drives his commitment in energy saving processes and sustaining a greener future.

Sean Flynn

B.ENG, EIT

Current Position: Mechanical Designer & Energy Specialist

Hobbies & Interests: Rugby, Hiking, Golf and Gym

ABOUT: Sean holds a degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering where he acquired a comprehensive understanding of energy systems, renewable energy technologies, and sustainable design principles.

Along with four years of experience in the HVAC and renewable energy industry, Sean has actively contributed to retrofit and new build project design and construction.

Sean has gained a high level of proficiency in surveying buildings as part of BES’s Energy assessment process. He possesses key knowledge and ability identifying inefficiencies and highlighting bespoke solutions to improve energy efficiency.

Sean’s passion for sustainability combined with a technical knowledge and practical experience provides sustainable energy solutions for his clients. This is evident with his keen interest in renewable technologies such as Heat Pumps and Solar PV.

Rían Power

BSc, MSc Management and Marketing.

Current Position: Marketing and Administration Specialist. 

Hobbies and Interests: Gym, Running, Hiking, Tag Rugby

About: Rian is a highly proficient member of the team who has a background in clinical research along side a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. In conjunction to experience in clinical research Rian also holds a publication from the World Health Organization in the area of country health indicators and targets.

Rian’s creative flair for design has led him down the path of marketing where he has acquired his MSc in Management and Marketing. In line with his studies, Rian worked with a global engineering firm working with their social media and marketing team. His area of duty here was to help manage and analyze the firm’s social media engagement, edit reports and create content for the company website and social media.

 Rian has experience in the area of financial advisory marketing with a Canadian financial institution. This line of work was focused on client gifts, client incentives, copy writing and event marketing.

A multidisciplinary background has developed Rian’s passion for delivering innovative and effective strategies for proficient marketing and administration. He is passionate about strategic marketing strategies and having a good repour with his team and clients.
